It is this Monday, from 6:30 p.m., that France Football reveals the nominees for its two Ballon d’Or (male and female), as well as for its Yachine and Kopa Trophies. Some wonder if reigning Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema will be among the 30 named after his absence from the World Cup.

We will have to wait until Monday, October 30 to find out the identity of the Ballon d’Or 2023, which will reward the best player in the world for the 2022-2023 season. Record holder of the individual award of France Soccer, Lionel Messi will offer himself his 8th crown thanks to the coronation of his Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. At the expense of Erling Haaland who scored a historic hat-trick with Manchester City by scoring 52 goals.

Two months before the big ceremony in Paris, the 30 nominated for the coveted Ballon d’Or will be revealed this Monday from 6.30 p.m., on the X of the Ballon d’Or and live on the L’Equipe channel. Ballon d’Or title holder, Karim Benzema was the big absentee from the World Cup, but will have no trouble being part of the list of nominees established by the French newspaper. He had a final season at Real Madrid with 19 goals in La Liga and 4 in the Champions League. Without the title of Spanish champion, but with a coronation in the King’s Cup and the Club World Cup. His absence would be a huge surprise.

Griezmann rewarded?

Other French players will see their names appear in the list of nominees, such as obviously Kylian Mbappé, top scorer of the World Cup (and Ligue 1), as well as Antoine Griezmann, excellent with the Blues and Atlético de Madrid. Randal Kolo Muani could make a small place for himself after his great season in the Bundesliga. Christopher Nkunku was the 3rd Frenchman named last year along with “KB9” and Mbappé.

The 20 players nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or as well as the 10 goalkeepers for the Yachine Trophy and the 10 young players for the Kopa Trophy will all be known by the end of the afternoon.
