Erling Haaland’s agent has called a possible move to Real Madrid an ‘open door’ as Manchester City make him the Premier League’s highest-paid player.
Haaland has been linked with a move to Madrid almost since he arrived at Man City last summer for a fee of €60million.
The Norwegian scoring machine quickly made that award a thing of the past and now has 58 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions, with 10 assists for good measure.
But the striker’s father, ex-Man City midfielder Alfie Haaland, admitted they had worked out a points system for his career and Real came second this time around, largely because he still had Karim Benzema, a player in his position, on the shelves.
Since then, the Ballon d’Or has gone to Al-Ittihad and the rumors of a future move to Santiago Bernabeu keep swelling, and his agent Rafaela Pimenta hasn’t done much to dispel them.
Haaland’s fate is in his hands
“The open door can mean many things”, she replied to Marcos Benito, from El Chringuito. “Our players can feel like they have their destiny in their hands.”
The announcement comes as City are set to offer Haaland a new contract which will nearly double his salary from £375,000 to £600,000 a week if he agrees to extend his lease beyond its current expiry date, 2027.
These figures, described for the first time by the DailyStar, would see Haaland overtake Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as the Premier League’s highest-paid player.
Mrs. Pimenta is convinced that her client is worth it.
“The price of a footballer, in reality, is set by a club”, she previously said. ” I know that nobody is going to pay 700 million euros for a player, but it is very clear that the value of Erling when he arrives at a club is immense; it is at least 1 billion euros. »
