Realistic if not brilliant, Marseille offers Brest and places itself at the height of Monaco at the head of the L1.
OM, which offered a promising but still breaking-in summer transfer window, received training inspired by Brest, the only club with leader AS Monaco to have won its first two matches of the season in L1. This opposition was therefore very promising and quite undecided on paper.

With a good start, the Marseille club opened the scoring with the first free kick of the game. Jordan Veretout’s aerial right-footed cross reached the far post, where Chancel Mbemba opened the scoring with a victorious cross header.
At the quarter of an hour of play, Brest recovered the leather near the center line and rushed against. Del Castillo attempted an aerial cross for Le Douaron. Pau Lopez captured the recovery of the latter. The match was open at the Vélodrome, with spaces in the back of the defenses. The Douaron dared a crushed shot blocked by Pau Lopez.
OM were hunkered down, 1-0 at the break. Marseille’s transitions were harmless, but that would change in the second act. Shortly after the hour mark, a mid-high cross from Renan Lodi was badly repelled by Marco Bizot. Ismaïla Sarr emerged as a sharp attacker for the 2-0.
It was also the final score, even if OM solicited Bizot several times in the last act. OM showed realism and seriousness, Brest should have done better in front of the goal.
