Mr. Brisard, the referee of the Coupe de France final between RC Lens and OGC Nice this Friday, wears the number 84 on his back. This is the launch of a large and beautiful campaign by La Poste denouncing incivility against referees.

Alongside number 10 of RC Lens Florian Thauvin or number 11 of OGC Nice Elye Wahi, the referee of the Coupe de France final, this Friday evening in Saint-Denis (9 p.m.), will display an 84 on his back! Jérôme Brisard is in charge of this opposition between the Sang et Or, who could lift the first entire Coupe de France in their history, and the Aiglons, who are especially in great danger since they will compete in the L1/L2 play-off against AS Saint-Etienne next week (Tuesday and Friday).

This Coupe de France final launches a very successful campaign led by La Poste with the French football, handball, basketball and rugby federations. In the coming days, the final of the Arkéma Première Ligue playoffs (the women’s D1 of football), the Top 14 final, that of the Women’s Elite, the final of the Coupe de France handball, the Betclic Elite finals and the Crunch Creator (a rugby match between French and English content creators organized in Bordeaux) will offer this same particularity.

The number 84 chosen in reference to a survey

La Poste, committed for 19 years as a partner of the 58,000 referees in France, has designed this awareness and prevention system “to bring about collective awareness”. The number 84 was chosen in reference to an Ipsos/BVA study revealing that 84% of French people believe that valuing referees means protecting sport.

“Behind this number, a reality: referees are on the front line facing disrespectful behavior. By wearing 84, they become the spokespersons for a simple and universal message: without referees, no match. Without respect, no sport. A visible mobilization on the most exposed areas »adds La Poste in its press release. Prevention and awareness actions were put in place during the season within the four sports and La Poste also designed protection and support systems for referees.
