Leader after the first day and its victory against Strasbourg (4-0), OM are already in trouble. After their defeat in Monaco (0-2) last weekend, the Phocéens gave in this Sunday at the Vélodrome against Paris FC (2-3), with a hat-trick from Lassine Sinayoko. The former Auxerrois is one of the good picks in the transfer window at 79 million euros for the capital club, which necessarily contrasts with this summer of zero reinforcements recorded by OM.
It only took 24 seconds for Sinayoko to shower the Vélodrome, thanks to good work from Luca Koleosho (0-1, 1st). OM reacted, Amine Gouiri taking advantage of a big error by the Parisian defense (1-1, 8th). But the visitors quickly regained the upper hand, thanks to this header from their Malian scorer, on a cross from Pablo Pagis (1-2, 19th).
OM were not yet KO, even if it took a decisive save from Jeffrey de Lange to avoid conceding another goal in the first minute after returning from the locker room (46th). While Igor Paixao found the bar on a free kick at the end of the first period (40th), Bruno Genesio’s men equalized thanks to the great satisfaction of the day, the Amine Harit-Amine Gouiri connection, for the second’s double (2-2, 54th).
Paris FC second in the ranking
Despite some obvious shortcomings, notably in the middle and in central defense, OM had a few match points, notably for Gouiri (75th) and especially Angel Gomes (66th). But after a failed restart from Cornelius, and a counter from Paris FC, the unfortunate Egan-Riley blocked a strike from Moses Simon with his hand. Immediate sanction: penalty, and the hat-trick for Sinayoko (2-3, 86th).
So here is OM with three points on the clock after three days, 10th in the ranking, with the only consolation being the fact of remaining ahead of Lens (11th) and PSG (14th).
