An executive from the Algerian selection will not play again this season with his club due to an injury.

The verdict is in. Absent during Borussia Dortmund’s last meeting against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Ramy Bensebaïni has still not recovered from his foot injury.

Worse, the 31-year-old Algerian defender will not be able to return to the field for the last two matches of the Bundesliga season. His coach, Niko Kovac, announced his withdrawal for the end of the season.

For Ramy, that’s not going to do it. He still has foot pain », indicated the BvB coach at a press conference on Thursday, and added: “ I personally think that this will not be possible for the next match in Bremen either. So it’s over for him in the Bundesliga this season. »

No worries for the World Cup?

Should we now be worried about his presence at the World Cup, which will begin in just over a month? According to his coach, no. “ He won’t miss the World Cup, of course », assured the Croatian technician.

Good news for Vladimir Petkovic, who is counting on the experience and versatility of Bensebaïni for this 2026 World Cup. As a reminder, Algeria will begin its tournament against the reigning world champions Argentina, before facing Jordan and Austria.
