Manchester City formalized this Thursday the arrival of Belgian striker Jérémy Doku from Rennes.

After three seasons at Stade Rennais, Jérémy Doku (21) officially joined the ranks of Manchester City on Thursday. The Belgian right winger trained in Anderlecht signed a five-year contract with the Skyblues, i.e. until June 2028. The transaction was concluded for an amount between 60 and 65 million euros. A recruitment that raises questions on the side of France. Jérôme Rothen having expressed reservations about the ability of the native of Borgerhout to acclimatize to the game and the philosophy of his new club.

“He has Doku qualities, but he’s a bit of a ‘straight’. He doesn’t have too much reflection in the game, thus estimated the former Parisian on the airwaves of RMC. If Mahrez took a year to succeed at City, I think it will take three years for Doku. Dribbling is fantastic… But how many assists could he give? He insisted on dribbling, small bridges, big bridges… He’s a genius for that, but in the end…”
