It took 14 seasons to win the Champions League. Since the purchase of Paris Saint-Germain by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in 2011, the main objective has been to win the prestigious European competition. The club had come close to achieving its dream in 2020, but the 1-0 defeat in the final against Bayern was a brutal reminder of reality.
Five years later, a renewed sports project, orchestrated by advisor Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique, led to triumph. On May 31, PSG lifted the big-eared cup by crushing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. This major success crowns years of massive investment, significantly increasing the value of the club.
The price of PSG explodes
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of PSG, took advantage of a conference at the Sorbonne to take stock of 14 years of Qatari investment. He underlined the reasons for choosing Paris and recalled the initial investment: “We had a lot of opportunities to invest. We chose Paris because we love France, Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. We bought the club for 70 million euros, we invested, including the training center,” according to comments made by The Team.
The manager then revealed the incredible growth in the value of the club: PSG, purchased for less than 100 million euros in 2011, is now worth billions. “A year and a half ago, the club, without the stadium, was valued at around 5 billion euros, probably more today”he said. The price is now set for PSG which is already looking at its future stadium.
