The 2018 World Champions continue to animate the news. Some for their return to Ligue 1, including Paul Pogba, Olivier Giroud, Florian Thauvin or Benjamin Pavard. Others for their retirement, such as Steve Mandanda (40) and Samuel Umtiti (31 years old). Benjamin Mendy has decided to continue his career without going to France for the moment.

At 31, the left side has been free from any contract since July 17. After a very short adventure at FC Zürich, the player will probably get involved for two seasons in the Polish championship. More specifically at Pogon Szczecin, fourth last season. Benjamin Mendy will find Kamil Grosicki, attacker who passed by Stade Rennais between 2014 and 2017.

A sawing career

With eight matches played in Zürich, of which only 352 minutes spent on the ground during the 2024-2025 season, the 2018 world champion will try to relaunch in a seventh club. After being trained in Le Havre, the left side joined Marseille between 2013 and 2016 before participating in the mad Monegasque epic during the 2016-2017 season. He will fly the following year to Manchester City for a transfer of 57 million euros, winning four titles of champion in England, before performing two rods in Lorient and therefore in Zürich.

His free arrival at Pogon is part of a project to reconstruct the Polish club, determined to become a must on its land, but also in Europe. The City of Szczecin team has just recorded the arrival of a new Canadian owner, Alexander Haditaghi, having largely reworked the current workforce.
