A point of no return seems to have been reached between FC Barcelona and Marc-André Ter Stegen. After submitting legal proceedings against the German goalkeeper, the Catalan club has just made a brand new decision that could worsen the situation.
Barça has indeed decided to withdraw the name of its goalkeeper from the list of players with an assigned number. A sign which shows that the German porter no longer has his place in the club.
At the start of the week, FC Barcelona had already announced that it had withdrawn the captain's armband from Marc-André Ter Stegen. A decision assumed by the Catalan management after the player's refusal to sign his medical certificate which would allow the club to record new recruits. “Following the disciplinary procedure opened against player Marc-André Ter Stegen, and pending a final resolution of this case, the club, in agreement with the sports management and the technical staff, decided to temporarily withdraw the capitalatanat of the first team”, Could we read in a press release published by the club.
TER Stegen until 2028!
However, no one could have predicted that history would end between FC Barcelona and Marc-André Ter Stegen. Arrived in 2014 from Borussia Mönchengladbach, the player had become one of the sure values of the Catalan club. With Barça, the 33 -year -old German played 422 games and won 9 trophies.
Injured for two years, the player was gradually put aside and is now invited, or rather forced, to leave the club. But ter Stegen, under contract until 2028, does not intend to give in. Case to follow.
