The winter transfer window turns into a hemorrhage for RC Lens. After the departures of Brice Samba to Stade Rennais this Wednesday and Abdukodir Khusanov, close to joining Manchester City, another pillar of the team seems about to leave. News which could further weaken the defense of the Sang et Or.

According to transfer window expert Ekrem Konur, it would be Kevin Danso. The Austrian defender is in advanced negotiations with Fenerbahçe, who want to strengthen their rearguard. An agreement between the two clubs could be finalized in the coming days.

An attempt already aborted last summer

This is not the first time that Kevin Danso has been close to leaving Lens. Last summer, he almost joined AS Roma, but a medical problem scuttled the transfer. A suspected heart problem had worried the Italian leaders, but the defender has since undergone minor surgery, permanently resolving the situation.

Danso and Lens should separate.

Despite this episode, Danso remained impeccable on the pitch, confirming his role as defensive leader in the northern team. However, this time, his departure for the Turkish club seems inevitable.

A difficult transfer window for Lens

With the departures of Samba, Khusanov and now Danso, RC Lens lost three of its executives in the space of a few weeks. These moves seriously complicate the club’s ambitions for the second half of the season, as it struggles to maintain its competitiveness in Ligue 1.

For its part, Fenerbahçe hopes to complete the arrival of Danso to strengthen its defensive sector and give itself the means to achieve its ambitions in the league and in Europe. For Lens, this departure would mark the end of an era and the need to reinvent itself quickly.
