Olympique de Marseille does the job. At the end of the 8th day of Ligue 1, OM largely won against Montpellier with a score of 5 goals to 0.

Elye Wahi, Amine Harit, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Mason Greenwood found the net in this meeting and allowed the Marseillais to take the 3 points.

A success which allows Roberto De Zerbi’s men to stay in contact with Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco who are 3 points ahead. The Phocéens are reassured before the long-awaited Classic on the next day against PSG at the Stade Vélodrome.

For Montpellier, the situation is worrying with this third loss in a row in Ligue 1. The MHSC is last in the 4-unit ranking.

Marseille did not hang around

After 2 matches without a victory in the league, OM absolutely wanted to get back on track and get back on track in Montpellier this Sunday. And from the start of the game, De Zerbi’s men did not hang around and hit the mark.

Elye Wahi punished his former club by receiving a header in the area from the left to the right from Jonathan Rowe which he pushed into the back of the net with his right foot (1-0, 1st). Enterprising and especially strong, the Marseille club did it again a few minutes later.

Amine Harit sends a cannonball with his right foot into the area following the reception of a cross from the left side of Ulisses Garcia (2-0, 36th). Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg imitates his partner and drives home the point in the first period (3-0, 40th).

A one-sided second act

As soon as they return from the locker room, Olympique de Marseille leaves with the same playing intentions and the same efficiency on all levels. Mason Greenwood, not very visible during the last Olympian outings, also took part in the party by scoring his 6th goal of the season in League 1.

A technical sequence that he concludes with his right foot in the small net of Benjamin Lecomte (4-0, 58th). Coming into play in place of Rowe at the hour mark, Luis Henrique also scored and sealed the score of the match (5-0, 73rd).
