A historic PSG observed in Lorient

PSG was unable to get the better of Lorient on Wednesday during the 10e day of Ligue 1. When Nuno Mendes opened the score at the start of the second half (49e), the Merlus quickly responded thanks to Igor Silva (51e). An annoyance which, however, did not impact the leadership of the capital club.

However, Luis Enrique missed his bet there. Since the start of the season, the Spanish coach has taken care to carry out a large squad review in each match to spare as much as possible the executives who last season gave a lot until mid-July. Result: sometimes daring hybrid compositions. And features rarely observed. Or even never seen since Qatar bought the club.

This was the case on Wednesday evening at Moustoir since the midfield and the attack line were 100% tricolor at kick-off. Namely Senny Mayulu, Warren Zaire-Emery and Quentin Ndjantou in the midfield; Ibrahim Mbaye, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué on the offensive. A line-up that has simply been unprecedented at PSG for 14 years and a championship match against TFC dating from February 2011.

Seven “Blues” in the PSG starting lineup

That evening, Antoine Kombouaré at the helm of the team had lined up Claude Makélélé, Clément Chantôme and Mathieu Bodmer in the middle. With a trio in attack composed of Ludovic Giuly, Peguy Luyindula and Guillaume Hoarau. This four months before the entry of QSI into the capital of the Rouges et Bleus.

With Lucas Chevalier in the cage against Merlus, no less than seven French players were in Luis Enrique’s squad in Brittany. An assumed desire on the part of management since Luis Campos still trumpeted during the offseason the objective of “
make PSG more French “.
