Despite the victory won at Francis-Le Blé during the 4th day of Ligue 1 (0-1), Paris Saint-Germain delivered a mixed performance in Brittany. In a meeting marked by the tribute paid to Eric Roy, Luis Enrique’s men did not display the same serenity as during their recent European demonstration, conceding several clear chances at Stade Brestois especially in the second half. After three draws in the elite, Ousmane Dembélé’s teammates nevertheless offered themselves their first success of the season.

On the pitch, the Parisians quickly took the lead thanks to an early goal from Ferran Torres in the 5th minute. Less sovereign thereafter, PSG missed the break several times while coming close to equalizing Brest, saved in particular by the post and the decisive interventions of Safonov, to finally preserve this short advantage until the final whistle (1-0). A victory without reassurance but which has the merit of launching the Parisian vintage one week before the Classic against OM.

“What did I like about the match? Nothing.”

After the match, Luis Enrique did not hide his annoyance at the content proposed. At the microphone of League 1+the Spanish coach felt that the manner left something to be desired in this short success: “we did much better in the 3 matches that we did not win compared to today. We had a lot of pace from the start, but we missed some actions that we shouldn’t. Today, we took the 3 points but we have to do better. If I’m honest about the match and what I liked about it? Nothing. I think we need to do much better. If you want to win the way we want to win, you can’t be satisfied with that, I expect more from my players. We need to control more, there are times when we didn’t have any balls. We need to improve that, for all the players and the coach too.»

Relaunched on the promising performance of his attack line and on the management of playing time in a very busy schedule, the Spanish technician warned his attackers that they will not be able to start every weekend, hence his permanent turnover during the first matches of the season: “I think the match was difficult for our attackers. I wouldn’t want to talk about the players, but about the three. I am happy with the quality of my attackers. It will be difficult for them to play all the time, even impossible. There will be a lot of matches, for a team like ours, you need a lot of quality, so I’m happy“. The message got through.
