The Girondins of Bordeaux in mourning

Girondins4ever.com Recalls that this playmaker from the 1950s and 60s was born on September 23, in 1936.

First nicknamed “Le Petit Marin” because formed at FC Lorient, this called Roland Guillas signed the Girondins at the age of 18, in 1954, as an intern. His talent is such that he is then called “Le Petit Kopa”, in reference to Raymond Kopa, the star player of the Blues and very first French Golden Ball (in 1958). The 1.66 m player became the club star at the scapular, playing 174 games (for 38 goals) until 1960.

International French (9 selections in all), Guillas abandoned the FCGB then in D2 to join AS Saint-Etienne, with whom he won the Coupe de France in 1962, his only career title. “Le Petit Kopa” had cost 40 million old francs, a record at the time in France.

In DH with Bordeaux up to 48 years

Roland Guillas then returned to the Girondins in 1964 and took his team to second place in the French championship behind FC Nantes. In three additional seasons, he played 103 matches to find the net in the net 13 times.

The number 10 follows his coach Salvador Artigas at FC Lorient, to find his Morbihan training club and be elected gold Star France-Football of D2 in 1968. Roland Guillas was once again returning to Bordeaux to play with Saint-Médard-en-Jalles then with the Girondins in CFA then in DH until the age of 48, while collaborating with the Adidas sales team. Then recruiter and then technical director of the Merlus, he saw the Lorient formation winning the Coupe de France in 2002.
