UEFA decided following incidents that occurred in the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich on May 31. This match, won 5-0 by PSG, was marked by a field invasion and the use of smoke bombs by Parisian supporters, causing a strong reaction from the European body.
In a statement published this Thursday, UEFA announces several sanctions against the capital's club. PSG has a fine of a fine of 100,000 euros, as well as a ban on the sale of outside tickets with a stay valid for two years.
But that's not all. The Paris club must also pay a fine of 30,000 euros for “Object jet”8,000 euros for “Acts of vandalism”as well as an additional 10,000 euros to have “Distributed a message unsuitable for a sporting event and for having infringed the reputation of UEFA”. This last sanction probably refers to the banner deployed in the stands, where you could read “Stop the genocide in Gaza”a message carried by the Ultras Paris collective.
148,000 euros to pay
The sanctions follow the opening of a disciplinary procedure by UEFA, launched the day after the final, in accordance with the rules supervising the security and behavior of supporters during European competitions. In total, Paris Saint-Germain will have to pay a total fine of 148,000 euros.
This is one of the heaviest financial sanctions ever inflicted by the European body for a land invasion associated with the use of pyrotechnic devices. In addition, FIFA must still decide on
Luis Enrique's behavior in the final of the Club World Cupwon by Chelsea (3-0).
