The French team will experience a new era. On July 28, Zinédine Zidane was officially inducted as the new coach of the Blues, succeeding Didier Deschamps after fourteen years at the head of the selection. The new boss of the EDF will unveil his first list on September 18, on the sidelines of the League of Nations. New faces should therefore appear at Clairefontaine.
Because “Zizou” is already at work. The new coach observes the forces present and intends to breathe new life into the French group. But while Zinédine Zidane prepares to unveil his first choices, a Ligue 1 nugget already seems to have made his choice for the rest of his international career.
This is Kaïl Boudache. The young player had his first selection with the France U17 team in January 2023 against Morocco. Since then, he has responded to the call from the Algerian Federation and should soon join the Fennecs U23 for the qualifiers for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
“It will still be Algeria”
In an interview with Le Progrès, the 20-year-old confirmed his attachment to the Algerian selection. In the longer term, his ambition is now clear: to join the A and experience great emotions with his country of origin. “The dream for me is to play big competitions like the Champions League, but also to play the World Cup with Algeria”he says.
And even the arrival of Zinédine Zidane at the head of the Blues does not seem to be able to change his mind. Asked about the possibility of one day being called up by the new French coach, Kaïl Boudache smiles, but maintains his choice. “It will still be Algeria. I often go to the country, my family comes from Kabylia. And in the summers, we come back to take advantage of the roots to recharge our batteries there”he concludes.
