After the various championships, UEFA put an end to its season on Saturday evening. The Champions League final won by PSG against Inter Milan (5-0) at the Allianz Arena in Munich, actually closed chapter 2024-2025. An apotheosis epilogue for the capital's club, which won the first title in its history in C1.

However, this coronation was accompanied by bad news for red and blue. UEFA has updated its club ranking and Paris Saint-Germain had the unpleasant surprise to discover that it had lost a place, slipping in fifth row-in order-Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

How to explain it? To establish this classification, UEFA has the results of the last five seasons. Consequently, the new European champions lost the benefit of their 2019-2020 campaign, when they bowed in the final against the Bavarians (0-1). The 31,000 points collected that year therefore left their accounting balance sheet.

PSG loses a place despite its title

But PSG has just gleaned 33,500 new points thanks to its title in the Champions League and does not have to worry about its European future. If this classification previously had an impact on the hats for the draws of the UEFA competitions, it no longer guarantees to avoid high -level opponents during the first phase.

With the recent reform of the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League, each team qualified for the “League phase” inherits two opponents in each of the four hats. No club is therefore really protected with this new unique hen. We have also seen this season with PSG, which has returned from far away to C1.
