He is said to be worn out, exhausted and already looking towards the end of the season and perhaps a future outside of Manchester City. However, Pep Guardiola is not of this opinion, while his team remains on one victory in 13 matches and is preparing to face Leicester this Sunday in the Premier League. For the Spaniard, there is no doubt that the Citizens will get their heads above water and regain the level which has made them a winning machine since his arrival. This is what he promised supporters in comments relayed by Sky Sports.

“Since I was a player and then a manager, I want to do like everyone else, that is to say please people and do my job well. The greatest test comes when things go wrong and that is the case today. But we will come back. (…) I see the state of mind of the team, how they trained this week and how focused everyone is.”

Once again, the former coach of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich cited injuries to explain the disastrous results of his team for several weeks.

“We have been consistent all these years. We don’t have them today, mainly because we have 7 or 8 important players who are injured. By playing every three days, it’s more difficult.”

Manchester City remains on 5 matches without a victory, with three defeats against Juventus, Manchester United and Aston Villa, and two draws, against Crystal Palace and Everton. At 3:30 p.m., the Skyblues will be on the Leicester pitch this Sunday to try to redress the situation, even if the championship title is already certainly out of reach for this season.
