PSG, an audience at half mast

Wednesday evening is Canal+ which broadcast the meeting of the fourth day of
Champions League pitting Paris Saint-Germain against Altlético de Madrid. Only 1.26 million viewers watched the defeat (1-2) of Luis Enrique’s men on the encrypted channel.

A match which did not excite the crowds, since it only came in fifth position in the evening’s audiences. The show “France has an incredible talent” rose to the top of the programs on M6, followed by “Les experts Las Vegas” on TF1 and “Des Roots et des Ailles” on France 3.

PSG, a drop in relative audience

The first meeting of
PSG of the Champions League season, on September 18, was followed by an average of 1.34 million people. As for the setback against Arsenal on October 1, it attracted 1.48 million viewers.

How can we explain that the capital club’s audiences are decreasing to this extent? The game developed by the Ile-de-France team, which is not very attractive, may constitute a first reason. The new format of the “Big Ears Cup” is also likely to encourage football fans to watch other matches being played at the same time. Finally, the various piracy systems drastically reduce the audience.
