West Ham had never experienced such a big debacle against Arsenal (0-6). The Gunners had a blast today in one of the London derbies. Without Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Arteta opted for Jakub Kiwior at left back and Leandro Trossard in attack. Judicious choices since both players rose to the occasion, like the Belgian who created several clear chances (22nd, 23rd, 24th). But it was from a corner that the situation was resolved thanks to William Saliba on an offering from Declan Rice (32nd). Then everything happened very quickly, the yellow waves (from Arsenal) swept over the West Ham defense. First with Bukayo Saka on a penalty (41st), then Gabriel, again on a set piece from Declan Rice (44th). Leandro Trossard invited himself to the party, adding a fourth goal from a nice top corner (45th+2). At the break, West Ham supporters even left the stadium.

The second half was in the same vein. With over 70% possession, Arsenal continued to create and make chances. Bukayo Saka had fun with the Hammers’ defense to score a double (63rd), his tenth goal of the season in the Premier League. The last goal of the game is achieved by a former member of the house Declan Rice. The English international, after two assists, scored a marvelous long shot (66th). With this big victory, Arsenal continues to follow the train just behind Liverpool and Manchester City. The Gunners are also improving their goal difference (now at +31), an important fact when we see the proximity of the three teams at the top of the Premier League. The descent in the standings continues for West Ham. Still no victory in 2024 (in 7 matches) and now eighth place.
