At the end of a completely crazy game, Real ended up winning overtime (5-3).
The 1e semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup was played this Wednesday in Saudi Arabia. Atlético and Real, Madrid’s two rivals, faced each other on their home soil. Although the competition was not the most popular, both teams gave their all. And this shock kept all its promises, with no less than seven goals scored.
A derby rich in goals
It was the Merengue who had the last word in this confrontation. Ancelotti’s team was the most incisive and they were rewarded for it. However, she had to wait two hours of play and score five goals for her opponent to finally breathe.
The decisive goal was scored in the 118the minute and was scored by Stefan Savic against his side, under pressure from the returning Joselu. A few minutes before penalties, Atlético gave in, although they had previously managed to come back to score twice. Just before the gong, Brahim Diaz ended up adding a 5e goal after Jan Oblak deserted his cage.
The two rivals went blow for blow
Hermoso opened the scoring for the band at Simeone (6e) but Real then responded through its two defenders, in this case Antonio Rudiger (20e) and Ferland Mendy (29e). The latter, scoring on a nice deviation from the outside of the foot, was not the only Frenchman to score in this game. Antoine Griezmann also hit the mark in the 37the with a clear shot from the rights after eliminating two Merengue defenders. The Maconnais occasionally became the only top scorer in Atlético history.
In the second half, a missed exit from Kepa and a csc from Rudiger (78e) have Rojiblancos to lead for the second time in the score. The latter believed the advantage was definitive, it was without counting on the rage of Dani Carvajal, equalizing scorer in the 85the following a billiards game in the opponent’s area.
Real wanted more
Real could have avoided extra time if Diaz had scored his cross shot in stoppage time. But, there are no regrets. The La Liga leader was the most enduring and therefore ended up pushing his opponent to make a mistake. The Merengue therefore won at the end of a match full of twists and turns. The neutral spectators must have had a blast.
