Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis took drastic action following the defeat against Torino this weekend.
Naples is going through a difficult time. After losing to Frosinone in the Italian Cup last Friday, the reigning Italian champion suffered another defeat, this time in Serie A, against Torino (0-3) this Sunday.
In Spain during the match, the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, decided to sanction his players until Saturday, the day of the derby against Salernitana.
According to La Repubblica, the team will be “locked up” in the hotel for at least five days. Despite the poor performance of coach Walter Mazzarri, who has only collected seven points in as many matches since his arrival on the bench of the transalpine club to replace Rudi Garcia, the president of the Azzuri however, maintained his self-confidence.
This decision represents an exceptional measure for Naples, highlighting the seriousness of the current situation. The club is currently in 9th place in the Italian championship, 20 points behind leader Inter Milan.
It becomes imperative for Partenopei to redress the situation quickly in order to avoid seriously compromising their season.
