Youcef Atal is appealing his conviction for provoking hatred on grounds of religion, as announced by France Bleu Azur
Sentenced to eight months in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros by the Nice Criminal Court for provoking hatred on January 3, Youcef Atal is appealing his conviction, as confirmed by France Bleu Azur.
Reminder of the facts: justice accuses Youcef Atal of having relayed on Instagram the video of a preacher calling for “a black day for the Jewish people”, after Israeli bombings on the Gaza Strip. In court, Atal apologized, repeating that he had wanted to send “a message of peace” and that he had not watched the video to the end before broadcasting it to his followers.
Note that the Algerian international is summoned by the Greens for the African Cup of Nations despite his 7-match suspension by the LFP. Under contract with the Aiglons until June, the right back is also suspended by OGC Nice until further notice.
