The Italian coach will allow Real Madrid to take the lead in La Liga if they win on Friday, despite doubts about his future at the start of the season and rumors about his replacement. AS Roma coach Claudio Ranieri, recruited to temporarily turn things around at the Stadio Olimpico, has said he would like Ancelotti to succeed him. Ancelotti, however, distanced himself from this idea.

“I am very comfortable here. Ranieri (who has said he wants him next year as Giallorosso coach) is a friend and he is doing very well at Roma. Roma is always on my mind, I’m very close to it. But I like being here. In Madrid, when you win a title, you are already thinking about the next one. Now we are thinking about the Super Cup. The circle at Real Madrid never closes. This really motivates me. »

“The relationship with the players is essential. The group, the team, is the coach’s life jacket. A good relationship is not just about putting players on the pitch, because we only take 11 in each game, and the rest go on the bench. »

In recent times he has also been linked with the possibility of taking charge of a national team, with Brazil actively pursuing him ahead of Dorival Junior’s appointment. But Carlo once again said his mind is on the present at Real Madrid.

“I like to train every day. The question of the national team is therefore complicated. Who knows if Real Madrid will be my last team? I have a two year contract, but the contract can be terminated or extended“, he told Radio anch’io Sport, quoted by Marca.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is widely tipped to take over from Ancelotti, and during the Italian’s struggles in November it looked like it could be next summer. However, both are out of contract in 2026, and that appears to be the likely date for a transition. However, if Ancelotti continues to have success, it will be difficult to replace him.
