We will have to wait until December 2 to be determined, but it is a safe bet that the French team will experience a very different start to the Euro from the group of death that it had to face during the previous edition. Two and a half years ago, the Blues were placed in the same group as Germany, Portugal and Hungary. A program which had forced them to focus their physical preparation on a peak in form as soon as they entered the competition, before the sequel that we know, and multiple penalizing injuries…
The Blues avoid heavy stuff!
A scenario that may not happen again this year. Although it will not be safe from a new group raised given the forces present, the Blues will at least have the assurance of avoiding 5 big names from the continent. Placed in pot 1, they will not cross paths with Germany this time, since despite their worrying state of form, the Mannschaft is seeded as the host country.
Furthermore, Didier Deschamps’ men will avoid England and Portugal from the outset – two nations considered by bookmakers as two current scarecrows on the continent. Finally, Spain and Belgium, still formidable despite their slack period, will not cross paths with the French selection during the first round.
