Despite a draw against Bulgaria this Sunday, Serbia validated its qualification for Euro 2024.
The list of countries qualified for Euro 2024 will soon be complete. Saturday evening, Romania, the Netherlands and Switzerland joined Germany, France, Portugal and Spain among the teams having validated their ticket for Germany in June.
Great first for Serbia
This Sunday, the Serbia also took the right wagon. Facing Bulgaria on the last day of Group G, Dragan Stojkovic’s men had to fight to snatch a draw in the 82nd minute thanks to a goal from Srdjan Babic. This result and the defeat of Montenegro in Hungary allows the Serbs to take second place and qualify directly for the Euro, its very first participation as an independent nation.
Three “finals”
Serbia is therefore the 17th team qualified for the Euro. There are still four places to be distributed in groups C, D, E and H and three via the play-offs. In Group C, Italy and Ukraine will play a final on Monday for second place. In Group D, second place will be fought out at distance between Croatia and Wales on the final day. In Group E, Moldova could make a big move by taking second place from the Czech Republic, the two teams also face each other on Monday evening. Finally, second place in Group H will also be decided in a “final” between Slovakia and Kazakhstan on Monday.
