Stéphan in Rennes, imminent formalization

Bruno Genesio on the departure, Julien Stéphan promises to land on the bench of Stade Rennais. His arrival in Brittany is expected this Monday.

Under contract until 2025, Bruno Genesio has decided to leave his post as coach of Stade Rennais prematurely. By mutual agreement with his management, the former OL coach gives up his apron while the Breton club appears in 13e elite rank only, with two small victories signed in 12 days.

His successor is well known to Rennes since he is none other than Julien Stéphan, who has already officiated at the club in the past, between December 2018 and March 2021. According to France Info, the former Strasbourg strategist will join for six months, i.e. until the end of the 2023-2024 fiscal year. And maybe more…

The shareholder’s choice

Ouest France specifies that this is the choice of the shareholder – François Pinault – to the detriment in particular of Rémi Garde whose name had also been mentioned. Julien Stéphan will be accompanied in this recovery mission by former Laval resident Denis Zanko. Stade Rennais should make the news official this Monday.
