Barça tames Sevilla!

FC Barcelona won against Sevilla FC this Friday, opening the 7th day of La Liga (1-0).

The seasons follow one another and are not the same for Xavi’s Barça. A few months ago, the Catalan club validated its reconstruction campaign with a championship title by relying on an iron defense and a lackluster game, far from the DNA instilled by Johan Cruyff. A sort of antithesis of current Barça. Because since the curtain rose, Xavi’s formation has been much more creative, attractive and effective, but this offensive momentum is not without consequences on its defensive performance.

Opposed this Friday evening to FC Sevilla, the reigning champion therefore had a double objective: to temporarily recover his seat as leader in front of an amazing neighbor, Girona; but also to adjust the cursor between offensive desires inherent to its identity and a defensive balance to be found. Still stuck in the soft underbelly of the ranking, Seville did not look like a thunderbolt of war. And Barça held its place by signing a serious success to resume its roadmap after the disappointing draw in Mallorca a few days ago (2-2).

The Blaugrana had to wait until the start of the last quarter of an hour to realize their domination. And like an awakening to the old Clasico, it was Sergio Ramos who found the net despite himself, scoring against his side (1-0, 76th). A logical goal for the Catalans, who had largely dominated a clueless Sevilla team. Mission accomplished for Xavi’s gang, who temporarily takes over the lead in La Liga.
