Sergio Ramos has recorded an apology video for Sevilla FC fans as he seeks reconciliation with the Nervionenses after years of conflict.

Ramos left Sevilla on the last day of the transfer market in 2005 for 27 million euros, to join Real Madrid, who the Sevillians notoriously hate. The first of several confrontations between the hard core of Sevilla and Ramos.

The then Sevilla FC president, Jose Maria del Nido, also said that Ramos was a liar, as he publicly claimed he wanted to stay, claiming that Ramos paid his release clause voluntarily. Ramos maintains it was a mutual sell.

In 2018, Ramos scored twice at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, including a penalty in Panenka. Objects and insults rained down on him, which led to the partial closure of the stand last season.

The club reported him to the Anti-Violence Committee for celebrating, while Ramos later said that“some of the Sevilla supporters do not deserve his respect”.

After re-signing for Sevilla FC, Ramos was keen to put it all behind him.

“Today is a very special day. I’m finally coming home, I can’t wait to smell the Sevilla shirt again and put on that badge. 18 years have passed since my departure, I think I made mistakes and I want to take this opportunity to apologize and apologize to all Sevilla players who felt offended by things and gestures that I could have made at the time. We are all in the same boat, we are all from the same family and we have too many people on the outside to fight among ourselves. »

“I come to help, to pull in the same direction and I can’t wait to put on the shield of Sevilla, to tread the Sanchez Pizjuan and to meet you all again. It’s not only a debt that I owe to myself, but also to my family, to my grandfather who made me a supporter of Sevilla since I was little, to my father… didn’t make sense to take another direction. I hope to see you again very soon. I am here to give my best and try to achieve my goals with the team”.

Ramos appears to have taken a significant pay cut to complete this transfer. The 37-year-old will try to raise the bar at Sevilla FC, which had a difficult start in La Liga, losing in each of its first three meetings.
