Manchester United are refusing to loan Harry Maguire to West Ham because they want to sell him to fund two more signings.

The West Ham side have been linked with out-of-value Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire throughout the summer, but United would rather sell Maguire than loan him out in order to get funds to sign a new left-back and midfielder, according to the DailyMail.

United’s interest in Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella stems from the fact that Luke Shaw could miss the next two months with a muscle injury.

Erik ten Hag is also keen to strengthen his midfield, and United are in talks with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat. Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich is another option.

It seems obvious Maguire needs a fresh start after Ten Hag stripped him of the club captaincy. West Ham have already grown weary of delays in negotiations for Maguire, making it increasingly likely that the defender will stay at Old Trafford until at least January.
