Montpellier HSC mourns the disappearance of Mickaël Virad. The young goalkeeper in a coma since 2019 died at the age of 20.

Arrived in 2018 at La Paillade from Reunion, Mickaël Virad suffered a cardiac arrest in February 2019, shortly after contracting gastroenteritis. An accident that had plunged the young goalkeeper into a vegetative state.
His family had then fought and denounced “serious shortcomings during his treatment at the hospital” thus hoping that justice be done”. Mickaël Virad’s family lawyer then put forward the thesis of “medical error” with the French regional daily Midi Libre.
