Pavard is a disaster!

The departure of Benjamin Pavard has been scheduled for a few months and Inter Milan are close to paying the 30 million euros claimed, but Bayern have finally decided to keep the French international, according to Sky Sports Germany.

It is beyond comprehension… On the departure of Bayern after having decided not to extend his contract (which runs until June 2024), Benjamin Pavard opted for Inter Milan rather than Manchester United, in order to to become Simone Inzaghi’s new right central defender in a 3-5-2. The Lombard club have made an offer of 25 million euros and bonuses, thus approaching the starting price set at 30 million, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Saturday.

Except that Bayern suddenly decided to keep the 2018 world champion! This is announced by Florian Plettenberg, the reporter for Sky Sportss in Germany, installed in Munich and well informed on the news of the transfer window across the Rhine. The negotiations between the two clubs are over and it is obviously not a gamble on the part of the Bavarian leaders to extract an additional 5 million euros from their internal counterparts.

Pavard is likely to be retained by Bayern due to Josip Stanisic’s departure to Leverkusen. The 23-year-old defender, also versatile, has been loaned, which removes an option for Thomas Tuchel to compose his defensive sector, while the German coach started the season with Noussair Mazraoui as a right-back (Friday evening against Werder Bremen, in a 4-0 victory). Bayern would therefore be ready to lose Pavard free of any contract in a year

For the 27-year-old French international, the situation is far from ideal. He quickly went from Inter Milan’s priority target – and potential pillar of the Nerazzurri – to a simple rotation player at Bayern, competing with a teammate (better offensively) for the position of right back and only 4th in the hierarchy of defenders centrals behind Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-Jae and Mathis De Ligt. Things are going badly for Pavard at Bayern!
