With the increase to 48 teams, it also means a lot more resources needed to organize such a competition. This is also why the countries that apply prefer to group together in order to facilitate the smooth running of the World Cup. In addition to these two candidacies made up of four countries, Saudi Arabia is also campaigning to be awarded the organization of the 2030 World Cup. The Middle Eastern country has been taking action for several months to develop football within the country.

With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and now other European stars, Saudi Arabia really hopes to organize the World Cup in seven years, Qatar having shown that this region of the world was capable of hosting this competition. FIFA has set the date of September 2024 to designate the host country or countries. The outcome of the war in Ukraine could however be a key point on the awarding of this World Cup, because it is difficult to see the world football body entrusting the organization of the competition to a country where peace does not reign alas. However, one can imagine the symbolic importance that a decision including Ukraine could have.
