In a press release, the union of professional footballers (UNFP) asked the authorities to allow the Annecy club to remain in Ligue 2, while the team is a collateral victim of the match stopped between Bordeaux and Rodez.

17th and first relegated on the evening of the 38th day of Ligue 2, FC Annecy has it bad. Beaten in Paris, the OM scorer in the Coupe de France would have been maintained if Bordeaux had dominated Rodez. But, everyone knows the scenario of this meeting, and in the end, it was Rodez who held on and even finished in 14th place in the standings. The leaders of Annecy were very virulent against the Ruthenian formation, but on the side of the players, we want to be more pragmatic by demanding that Ligue 2 be increased to 21 clubs next season. An initiative which received the support of the UNFP on Monday, which sent an open letter to the Minister of Sports, the president of the LFP and the president of the FFF.

Annecy claims an L2 with 21 clubs

We are in danger and we want to ask for your help and your intervention regarding our sporting future. We are asking you because you are the guarantors of ethics, fairness and sports justice and because you have the solution that would not penalize any party: THE LEAGUE 2 A 21. We have read the regulations of the LFP and FFF which authorize a number of up to 22 clubs for this Ligue 2 championship, which proves that sporting justice can be done. We implore you: do not let this injustice pass! You are probably familiar with the current situation in Ligue 2 and the situation of our club, FC ANNECY, in particular following the events that took place during the Bordeaux-Rodez match on the 38th day of Ligue 2 BKT. We could be the collateral victim of the decision of the LFP Disciplinary Committee. The loss by penalty of the meeting pronounced against the Girondins de Bordeaux “, specifies the club. As a reminder, at the end of next season, Ligue 2 will also increase to 18 clubs.
