The sale of Olympique de Marseille is always mentioned in Provence, but Frank McCourt is absolutely not asking. And even less in a hurry, he who is convinced to make an excellent financial deal.

Rumors are multiplying about the sale of Olympique de Marseille. If the influencers are having a great time announcing dates, gala arrivals and the signing of Zinedine Zidane on the sidelines, there is currently no negotiation or concrete meeting between potential buyers. and the club owner. Frank McCourt, who has been repeating for years that he is not a seller, will of course change his position if a colossal offer were to be made. The American is a businessman, and if he has speculative interests in Provence, his main reason for following what is happening in the south of France is his management of OM.

On this subject, the native of Boston has always been calm… Olympian. It must be said that in 2016, he bought the Marseille club from the Louis-Dreyfus family for 50 million euros. Since then, the investments have been plentiful and he says to himself that he had to put in his pocket an amount well over 200 million euros to pay off the debts, relaunch the project and invest in the transfer market. The prospect of recovering this sum in the day-to-day management of the club is almost impossible.

McCourt, a few hundred million in the pocket?

But Saudi Arabia’s interest in buying OM will change everything. Indeed, the Middle Eastern channel I24News recently claimed that the Saudis were preparing an offer ” impossible to refuse for Frank McCourt. This means a splendid return on investment for the American, since a study recently carried out by Brand Finance estimates that the value of OM is now 458 million euros. Suffice to say that, if interest from the Gulf were to arrive, the price would be at least that, and would allow McCourt to make a huge tumble on his investment of less than 10 years.

And according to Le Quotidien du Sport, McCourt waits completely calmly for possible offers, and given the proportions taken by the takeovers in the world of football, with in particular that of Olympique Lyonnais as a recent example for France, the owner of the OM thinks that there is absolutely no reason to rush to sell. He can therefore still wait a few years, knowing that his investment seems, despite its daily cost, to still be largely profitable in the event of resale.
