Thanks to a goal scored in the last second of stoppage time, Monaco beat Montpellier this Saturday at Louis II (2-1, 6th day of Ligue 1).

You shouldn’t have left before the end of the match this Saturday evening, when AS Monaco and Montpellier faced each other at the Louis II stadium, as part of the sixth day of Ligue 1. While the two teams seemed to have left to leave back to back, Monegasque perseverance, and especially Lamine Camara’s winning shot in stoppage time, allowed the locals to snatch victory at the last moment (2-1). Joy for Monaco, terrible disillusionment for Montpellier.

Especially since the meeting started much better for the Héraultais, well in place and capable of launching sharp counterattacks. It was also on one of them that Rabby Nzingoula opened the scoring with a millimeter service from Akor Adams (0-1, 16th). An advance which only lasted a quarter of an hour. Because by trying their luck, the Monegasques ended up finding the fault, through Folarin Balogun (1-1, 32nd). And all these little people return to the locker room on this score of parity.

Monaco picks up, Montpellier sinks

Already pushed back in the first period, the Montpellier residents will be even further behind in the second act. Leaving almost exclusive possession of the ball to ASM (71%), Michel Der Zakarian’s men only suffered in the second half, ultimately only escaping thanks to the opponent’s lack of precision (four shots on target on fourteen). However, they resisted for a very long time, before breaking down in stoppage time.

First when Tanguy Coulibaly received a second yellow (90th + 2), leaving his partners at ten. And so in the last second of added time, when Lamine Camara, with a low, distant and devilishly well-placed shot, offered a victory as deserved for Monaco as it was cruel for Montpellier (2-1, 90th+8). This allows the Rocher players to return to equal points with the Parisian leader. As for the MHSC, this fourth defeat in six days of the championship places it in sixteenth position.
