38 matches, 12 goals and 6 assists later, Sadio Mané (31) is kindly asked to look elsewhere. Disappointed with the performance of the Senegalese striker recruited for €41 million, Bayern Munich want to turn the page on Mané and make Harry Kane their new spearhead. But the interested party does not intend to sit on his contract at 20 M€ per year until 2025. A firm position on which Thomas Tuchel returned.

“Sadio failed to live up to expectations last season. The competitive situation is extremely high for him. We have a constellation that makes things very difficult for Sadio. The player knows it too. I know his opinion, he knows my opinion and that of the club. He has a contract and wants to stay. And we respect that. But it’s only the first day of training and a lot can happen in football.”

A Saudi interest that changes everything

Pushed towards the exit, Mané had been put on the market in exchange for an accessible amount: 20 M €. The Munich goal was clear: get rid of number 17 as quickly as possible, even if it means losing money. But Sky Germany tells us that things have changed. From now on, it is no longer 20 M€ that will be claimed… but at least 32 M€!

Why this sudden increase? Quite simply because the German giant got wind of Saudi Arabia’s interest in Mané. Concretely, Bayern knows that two Saudi clubs, Al Nassr and Al-Ahli, have met the Mané clan. No details have filtered, but you will have understood: Bayern wants to take advantage of the unlimited financial means of these new powers of football to negotiate a transfer revised upwards. The player still has to agree to move.
