FC Barcelona: terrible news for Dani Olmo

At the end of last week, FC Barcelona made official the signing of Dani Olmo for an amount of around 60 million euros. A nice transfer for Hansi Flick, who had only had the young Pau Victor as reinforcement until now, and who sees a player who comes out of a very good Euro and who already has great experience in the Bundesliga arrive in his locker room.

The Barcelona management does not want to stop there and tries, again and again, to convince Nico Williams to land in Catalonia this summer. A complex operation, since the player is rather comfortable at Athletic, where he plays with his brother. But also because once again, Barça risks being caught up by its financial reality. Moreover, the Olmo file is not completely settled despite the officialization…

Barça must urgently bring in cash

Indeed, as indicated by the SER chainthe Catalan club still cannot register Dani Olmo with La Liga. Currently, the club is not in compliance with the championship’s financial fair play, and is quite far from being so. If there are no large inflows of money in the near future to adjust to the criteria of this Spanish DNCG, the 2024 European champion will not be able to play in La Liga.

A difficult situation, especially in view of other arrivals, and which also makes the transfer of Nico Williams highly improbable. The sale – or sales – of players like Vitor Roque or Frenkie de Jong, who both retain good value on the market, could help, but there is not really a rush to the gate for the moment…
