Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has identified the biggest weakness in Erik Ten Hag’s team.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has expressed his concerns over the Red Devils’ goalkeeping position, saying Andre Onana is not good enough to keep goal for the side.

The Cameroonian joined the club at the start of last season from Inter Milan in Italy. He had a difficult start before picking up steam and finishing the season on a positive note. However, Scholes remains unconvinced by this element and believes the €50 million spent on his recruitment was a huge waste.

Scholes pessimistic for Manchester United

“It’s not unusual to hear Manchester United fans say how excited they are for the new season, but I find it hard to be,” Scholes said on The Overlap.

He added: “I always worry about the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is a big concern for me. Even in pre-season, with the goals he has conceded, he worries me a lot.”

The former club player also expressed his reservations about other positions at MU: “I still think there are areas of the pitch that Manchester United have problems with. The new centre-back (Leny Yoro, editor’s note) has already been injured. Martinez was injured last season, Maguire was injured at the end of the season, Lindelof too, no Varane this season.”
