PSG made official yesterday the arrival of Willian Pacho. The Ecuadorian arrives from Eintracht Frankfurt for €45 million (€40 million + €5 million in bonuses). At 22, he comes to strengthen a position where there is no shortage of competition between the presence of Marquinhos, Skriniar, Beraldo, Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe. The 6 players in this position are all international, which shows the density. And Pacho is already the 4th recruit in this position in just 12 months (after Skriniar and Hernandez last summer, and Beraldo this winter).
A new competitor that will not reassure Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Hernandez, both left-handed, like their new teammate, and currently injured. For the first, this reinforcement can even be seen as a message from the club. According to The Parisianthe Frenchman’s entourage noticed the very similar characteristics of Pacho with their protégé. In addition to being left-handed, the former Royal Antwerp player is known for his aggressiveness in duels, his power and a confidence displayed on the field.
PSG is listening to offers
It’s probably not a coincidence. It’s not really a secret, but Luis Campos has never been a big fan of the player since his arrival in the capital. In 2022, the Portuguese manager had already campaigned for his departure. Galtier had dissuaded him and wanted to have him with him. In addition to his qualities as a player, Kimpembe symbolises the Parisian team. There are few like him in the first team to have established themselves over time since QSI took over the club in 2011. He is almost an exception, in addition to being a unifying personality in the locker room.
This is also why the club extended his contract last December until 2026, even though his contract was coming to an end at the end of the season. Campos has worked towards this but he is still convinced of his departure. Last June, we already reported on this situation, confirmed at the end of the transfer window by The Parisian. The management, which appreciates the personality of the 2018 world champion, has not notified him of his departure either. Operated twice on the Achilles tendon and absent from the field since February 2023, Presko is focused on returning to competition, he who had a little scare in training. For this, he has no other choice than to take refuge in work and chain training sessions.
