The Dutch international, once coveted by Bayern Munich, has reportedly decided not to return to PSG, the club to which he still belongs for three years.

Last season, Xavi Simons was loaned by Paris Saint-Germain to RB Leipzig, without an option to buy. Tied to the reigning French champion until June 2027, the 21-year-old winger seems to have given his preference to the German club founded in 2009.

Indeed, according to the journalist from Sky Sport Germany Florian Plettenberg, the Dutch international, has decided to spend an additional season at the club coached by Marco Rose. Satisfied with the performances of the Amsterdam native, Leipzig wanted to extend his temporary assignment by one year.

Xavi Simons clearly leans towards Leipzig

Questioned on this matter, the general director of RBL admits that the negotiations are on track. “At the moment, I cannot promise that Xavi will return to training in Leipzig after the American tour. But I can promise you that we will have done everything to ensure that he stays in Leipzig. We have very good arguments to convince Xavi and Paris Saint-Germain. It is these arguments that count, and not the frequency and strength with which we express them publicly.”said Johann Plenge, quoted by Kicker.

It remains to be seen what the capital club’s position is. Luis Enrique seems to like the 21-year-old player. “He is a player who belongs to the club, he is on loan and he is excellent. He has the perfect qualities for what we want. He could obviously be a very interesting option for us but it depends on the clubs.”explained the Spanish technician on Twitch last March.
