It will soon no longer be possible to watch sporting events illegally on the Telegram network.

A few months ago, the MMA fight between Cédric Doumbé and Joshua Ngannou brought together more than half a million viewers on an IPTV server hosted by Telegram. The bane of official broadcasters. But, this illegal retransmission should very soon be eradicated.

A head of the fight against audiovisual piracy spoke in Le Parisien to affirm that this will soon be the end of trickery. This is Hervé Lemaire, head of LeakID. An SME specializing in content protection.

Towards the end of IPTV?

“This is about to change as large IPTV servers, like Telegram channels, are being hunted by global piracy institutions, he assures. The stakes are far too high and it is in everyone’s interest that TV rights are fiercely protected. ” Except perhaps the one who has to ruin himself to be able to watch his favorite competitions.

The news is enough to delight the media and platforms that spend millions to secure exclusive content. This is particularly the case for DAZN, which paid a high price to acquire the French football championship starting next season.

Audiovisual pirates are not worried

We will have to wait and see what this will actually produce. IPTV managers do not seem very worried about this announced revolution. “In five years, I have not received a single message from Arcom, said one of them. From a technical point of view, it is almost impossible to regulate the IPTV market. If one broadcast server closes, three others are already created.”
