Arriving on the bench of Lazio Rome on March 18 to take over from Maurizio Sarri, Igor Tudor (46) resumed his duties as coach almost a year after his departure from Olympique de Marseille. The Croatian technician has managed eleven matches and the results are rather positive with 6 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats to his credit. Ranking his team in seventh place and securing qualification for the Europa League in the process, we can say that he limited the damage in a complicated exercise for the Biancocelesti.
However, if things have improved sportingly, the difficult season has caused difficult moments such as a confrontation between the players and the supporters after a draw against Monza (2-2). Difficulty resolving his team’s offensive problems, he also experienced major relationship problems with certain players which had a big impact on the state of the Roman group. At odds with Daichi Kamada, Taty Castellanos and Matteo Zaccagni, Igor Tudor’s relationship with Mattéo Guendouzi is catastrophic.
Imminent departure for Igor Tudor
A slight sporting resurgence against a lot of headaches, Lazio therefore decided to decide in favor of the departure of the Croatian technician after barely three months of collaboration. As notably announced Sky Sports Italy, Igor Tudor will not be Lazio coach next season. The fault lies in a climate of tension that is far too explosive to work in good conditions.
An agreement was reached between the different parties to cease this relationship. And the formalization of this departure is imminent. Preparing for the future, Lazio has already targeted its new coach with Marco Baroni from Hellas Verona. However, the latter is also in discussions with Monza, whose CEO Adriano Galliani has already had lunch with him. The Lombards therefore have a head start in this matter.
