Paris Saint-Germain are ending their pursuit of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva, according to reports from France.

Le Parisien claims the Ligue 1 champions are ending their attempts to lure the 29-year-old to the French capital this summer. Silva has been regularly linked with a move to Parc des Princes since the arrival of Luis Campos as PSG sporting director in 2022. Campos is said to have pushed for his fellow Portuguese to join the club, but he will now look elsewhere after failing in his last attempts.

The Paris-based media outlet goes on to claim that PSG were expected to make a comeback for Silva this summer, but plans have now changed. While City and Pep Guardiola are determined to retain the experienced playmaker, Campos and manager Luis Enrique have decided to target other areas of the team this summer.

PSG eyes Napoli

Instead of focusing on the right wing, PSG are now targeting the left winger position, with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as their prime target. As departure rumors multiply with each transfer window, Silva has spoken out about his long-term ambitions for the rest of his career.

“I want to come back to Benfica. If the club wants me at that time, obviously things will happen” he told CNN. “I was unable to play for Porto or Sporting. It will not happen “. After being disappointed by the recent FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United, which ended the 2023-24 campaign, Silva will now take some well-deserved time off before joining his Portuguese teammates for Euro 2024 .

Last summer, he signed a contract extension with City, pledging to stay at the club until 2026. However, the contract reportedly includes a release clause of just £50million should he wish to move elsewhere. La Liga giants FC Barcelona have also reportedly expressed interest in the player.
