OM, absolute headache for the future coach

Who will be the new OM coach? There is no shortage of avenues but the Marseille club will have difficulty achieving one of its priorities.

Olympique de Marseille will have experienced a relatively chaotic 2023-2024 financial year, during which no less than three coaches succeeded one another: Marcelino, Gattuso and Jean-Louis Gasset. In the coming days, a new technician will take his place on the Marseille bench.

According to The Team, the coming week will be decisive regarding his identity. The leaders of the southern club have checked certain names at the top of their short list. The problem is that the interest is not necessarily reciprocal. “To get married, the other person must also want to”, concedes an internal source to the sports daily. The latter specifies that Lensois Franck Haise would appear among the tracks studied by Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia.

Di Meco campaigns for Galtier

“For me, Christophe Galtier would be the ideal coachjudged for his part Eric Di Meco in comments relayed by Provence. But will OM ask for it, will Christophe be seduced by this new project? At the moment, there is a lot of talk about Paulo Fonseca… why not. But we have to be wary of this coaching story. The coach has become so important within a club, perhaps too much…”

OM have just given themselves a little breath of fresh air by winning the Gambardella Cup. The Marseille club’s resumption of training should not take place before July 1 and Ligue 1 will not resume until mid-August, due to Euro 2024.
