Wissam Ben Yedder’s contract will not be renewed with AS Monaco. The information was made official on Saturday and the striker will leave in June.

End of the adventure between Wissam Ben Yedder and AS Monaco. Arriving in 2019 from Sevilla FC, the French striker enjoyed the glory days of the principality club for five seasons. There will have been ups and downs, placements on the bench, but also very high level performances which will have even pushed Didier Deschamps to recall him to the Blues. But the Monegasque story of Ben Yedder is about to end.

It was the Rocher club which itself confirmed the information this Saturday. Through a message posted on its social networks, Monaco wanted to thank its striker, explaining that “it is a special page in the history of the club which is turning this summer”. This season, the thirty-three-year-old man has again had a more than honorable performance with no less than twenty goals and two assists distilled in the space of thirty-four matches, in all competitions.

Europe, the Gulf or elsewhere

After having already played in Toulouse and therefore Monaco, will Wissam Ben Yedder bounce back once again in Ligue 1 or will he choose to go into exile once again after his Sevillian experience? The fact remains that he will have marked the history of ASM since at the time of his departure, he is the second top scorer (one hundred and eighteen goals), behind the unbeatable Delio Onnis (two hundred and twenty-three).

We therefore have to wait to find out what direction the French international will choose to give to his career. A new challenge in a European championship? A more exotic (and profitable) adventure in a Gulf championship? He will surely be spoiled for choice.
