For LFCTV, the club’s television channel, he read letters that supporters had sent to him before his departure. One of them particularly moved him.
“I burst into tears when I received a letter. Reading what this means to people, how our football has changed lives, makes me overjoyed. I know football can have this effect”, he said. Anfield’s farewell to their coach tomorrow against West Ham is also likely to be emotional.
