FIFA has just released its traditional ranking. No change in the top three. Three months after recovering the first place in the world, Argentina retains its rank. Lionel Scaloni’s men did the job just before going on vacation. But watch out, because the French threat is getting closer!
Indeed, the gap has narrowed considerably between the Argentinian leader and the France team. Thanks to its friendly victories against Australia and Indonesia, the Albiceleste remains first with 1843.73 points. Winners of Gibraltar and Greece, Didier Deschamps’ men are just behind the reigning world champions (1843.54 pts). That’s barely 19 hundredths more than our Blues!
The gap is closing
The next ranking (July) will not change anything (no match on the program), but if Kylian Mbappé’s partners have a good comeback, they could regain their throne. Brazil completes the podium (1828.27 pts). Note that England (4th) took the place of Belgium (5th). Same crossover between Croatia (6th) and the Netherlands (7th).
For the rest, the top 10 is completed by Italy (8th), Portugal (9th) and Spain (10th). The United States (11th) are not very far away. World champions in 2014, Germany continues its descent into hell. Hansi Flick’s band is in fifteenth place, behind Mexico (14th), Morocco (13th) and Switzerland (12th).
