Rio Ferdinand has urged Paul Pogba to explain himself after Italian authorities handed him a four-year sanction.

Following a positive test for DHEA, a banned substance known to increase testosterone levels, Pogba was hit with a four-year ban. Ferdinand, who himself went through a doping controversy in 2003, reached out to his former teammate, urging him to speak out and defend his innocence. Referring to his own experience, Ferdinand stressed the importance of transparency and communication in such difficult times.

In his podcast “Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE”, he said: “I’m in a good position to sit here and talk about all this because I’ve been there,” Ferdinand said. I’m not going to rush out and say he’s guilty because I’ve been in that position and I know Paul, I need to hear it and see some facts. »

A penalty reduced to two years!

“The lawyers and the club told me to let the professionals handle it and let things take their course and hope they will do the right thing for you. If I were Paul Pogba today, if I was innocent, if I spoke, if I told people what happened…”

“I think he needs to speak out – whether they think it spoils the trial or not – they gave him a four-year ban, I don’t think it will be two years if he appeals because these People will want to make sure they have their dose of blood. He needs to take care of himself.”
